Summary
In September 2011, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (“FRB”) issued a final rule (“SIFI Rule”) implementing Section 165(d) of The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (“DFA”) that requires bank holding companies with total global consolidated assets in excess of $50 billion to submit periodically to the FRB and the FDIC a plan for the company’s rapid and orderly resolution in the event of material distress or failure. In January 2012, the FDIC issued a final rule (“IDI Rule” and, with the SIFI Rule, the “Rules”) that requires insured depository institutions (“IDIs”) with assets of $50 billion or more to submit periodically to the FDIC a plan for resolution of the IDI in the event of failure. In response to and to be compliant with these regulations in the most efficient and effective way, MUFG formed a Resolution and Recovery Planning Office (“RRPO”) which acts as a central program office in coordinating and facilitating all Resolution and Recovery related work efforts across MUFG U.S. entities, and in close support to MUFG global recovery and resolution efforts. The Resolution and Recovery Analyst position will be a member of RRPO, and will report to the RRPO director. He or she will play a key role in MUFG Americas Resolution and Recovery Plans development, maintenance and submission processes. As a member of RRPO, this individual will be responsible for contributing to detailed project planning, facilitating across large number of subject matter experts and executives within MUFG material entities in developing, reviewing and approving the Resolution Plans (“Plans”), and conducting detailed review and challenge on various components of the Plans throughout the cycle.
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong business relationship with key stakeholders within two MUFG material entities, Mitsubishi UFJ Securities (USA), Inc. (“MUS(USA)”) and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ New York Branch (“BTMU NY”). Coordinate and facilitate with internal business units or function areas of the two entities, such as Core Business Lines, Legal, Technology and Operations, and so on to obtain required information in preparation for each annual Plans submission. * Closely interact with and oversee the engaged external consultants’ work relevant to the two entities in developing, refreshing, reviewing and approving components of the Plans. Review and challenge core quantitative strategic analysis assumptions and outputs, and collaborate with external consulting expertise in reviewing strategy development in the Plans. Review any deliveries from the consulting firm(s) to ensure quality the Plans. Review and ensure that the QC process relevant to the two entities are complete and comprehensive, and be responsible for all issues identified and ensure for their appropriate prioritization and timely closure. * Conduct detailed project planning regarding annual Plans refresh and any other related efforts regarding the two material entities. This requires close collaboration with other RRPO peers as well as external consulting resources. Significant contribution to the planning activities include identifying appropriate core tasks and key deliverables, milestones, dependencies, and potential risks, providing proper assessment in risk mitigation options, proactively tracking project progress of all tasks related to the two entities, and providing early warning to the RRPO director with any potential slippage and feasible mitigating options, producing periodic status reports for working committee, scheduling/facilitating meetings with key stakeholders or contributors or external consultants/legal counsels, and capturing/tracking/following up on action items. * Conducts researches and analysis on specific topics including historical data points to support Plans content development. Solicit key inputs from key stakeholders to address any regulatory questions or Internal Audits or others inquiries. * Develop productive and healthy working relationship with other RRPO members. Closely and dynamically collaborate with other RRPO resources as needed to maximize overall RRPO operation efficiency and increase Plans quality and integrity.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Master's Degree preferred; * 7+ years of banking or financial services industry experience required; experience in Regulatory Compliance, Corporate Finance with exposure to Capital Planning, and Risk Management preferred. * Strong Analytical Skills required. * Familiarity with products such as Commercial and Corporate Banking, Real Estate, Branch Banking, Wealth Markets, Capital Markets, Consumer Products; basic understanding of general accounting and financial statements, i.e Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow, as well as familiarity with financial terminologies; exposures to Risk Management, and experience with vendor financial and risk management. * Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and MS Word; ability to model and create complex spreadsheets, look up tables, pivot tables; Proficient in MS Project; * Project Management Exposure – ability to manage time, work under pressure and against deadlines, handle priorities involving multiple deliverables; ability to harness deliverables through excellent written and verbal communication and knowledgeable persuasion * Ability to work in a matrix reporting environment and being a strong team player * Ability to function independently and an ability to work interdependently with little supervision.
