Summary
The Real Estate Underwriter/Portfolio Manager will be responsible for underwriting new credits, managing a portfolio of clients, providing general support to the Relationship Managers and working with Credit Risk Administration in maintaining the credit quality of the loan portfolio with a focus on lending to public and private REIT’s and Institutional Funds. This position is part of the Institutional Markets Lending Unit, with offices in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, within Union Bank's Real Estate Industries Group. The Institutional Markets Lending Unit focuses on secured project financing as well as lending to public and private REIT’s and Institutional Funds with a national focus. Loans consist of senior mortgages, bridge, construction, and unsecured revolvers and term loans to such clients.
Responsibilities
* Working with Relationship Managers, clients, and other lenders to underwrite new loans, modifications, and restructures. * Preparing approval memorandums and loan packages. * Coordinating and performing due diligence for loan closings (including reviewing loan documents, funding statements, appraisal reports, etc.). * Completing ongoing annual credit reviews and loan reviews. * Insuring proper risk grading of credits at all times. * Other assignments as required.
Ideal Candidate
* 7+ years of experience in banking and real estate finance; * Strong real estate underwriting skills and experience with ARGUS; * Experience dealing with appraisers, loan administration, outside legal counsel and credit officers; * Candidate should be comfortable in learning the Bank’s various systems; * Some travel required. * Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
