Summary
Supports quality system by performing assigned duties related to receiving/in-process/final inspection, calibration programs, audit functions, and document control processes.
Responsibilities
* Uses inspection and test equipment to check purchased, in-process, and finished materials and products to ensure conformance with design documents and/or applicable standards, using appropriate statistical techniques and following the nonconforming materials process as required. * Provides support to other MTS departments for supplier quality activities (e.g., returned material authorization (RMA) process, corrective actions, supplier visits). * Manages calibration and preventive maintenance programs by coordinating with other MTS personnel and vendors. Performs minor calibrations as required. * Supports Quality Manager and other functional leaders by participating in internal and external audits. * Develops tooling and procedures for receiving, in-process, and final inspections, periodically audits production fixtures and tooling for reliability and repeatability. * Monitors production quality statistics, ensuring timely failure and trend analysis of internal production “fall-outs”. Shares data in appropriate format. * Initiates and/or facilitates corrective or preventive actions as required. * Oversees administration of the quality system by facilitating document control processes including document review and updates as needed. Maintains a user-friendly portal for published documents. * Develops and provides training for ISO-9001, inspection methods, reliability improvement, statistical techniques, and good manufacturing practices in an electro-mechanical environment. * Knows and applies the division’s quality policy and procedures of ISO 9001 as it relates to area of responsibility and the organization. Follows all standard operating procedures as prescribed and notifies appropriate personnel of any non-conformance.
Ideal Candidate
* 2 year degree or certification and 4 years of experience in a technical field * American Society for Quality Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred * Good understanding of ISO9001 and quality systems * Proficient in IPC standards such as IPC-A-610; certification preferred * Proficient in Microsoft Office * Must be able to repeatedly lift items with hands that weigh more than 10 pounds for full 8 hour shift * Ability to use microscopes and/or other magnification tools for visual inspections * Ability to read engineering drawings * Good verbal and written communication skills * Good problem solving skills * Good mathematical skills * Ability to enforce our commitment to quality - must be able to not only identify the problem but also address employees in professional manner to correct the problem and understand why it was not acceptable by teaching employees correct quality standards.
