Staff Accountant

MPW offers a variety of industrial cleaning, water purification, facility management and container management services to thousands of clients throughout North America.

To perform general accounting activities, including analyzing financial information, preparing financial reports, preparing and entering journal entries and actively participating in special projects.

* Assist with monthly close procedures, including: * Preparing standard and general journal entries * Monitoring monthly and year-to-date activity versus budget * Performing fluctuation analysis and inquiring of any variances * Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliation of particular balance sheet accounts. * Assist with the completion of the quarterly reconciliation information. * Responsible for fixed assets, including the following monthly activities: * Perform initial review of capital spending request * Capitalizing assets when complete * Assigning appropriate depreciable lives to assets * Monitoring spending associated with fixed assets * Preparing and distributing summary reports * Responsible for certain treasury activity on a daily and/or monthly basis. * Provide audit assistance during year-end, including, pulling records, performing research, and answering inquiries. * Prepare and distribute monthly reports, including ad hoc reporting. * Perform research on general accounting topics and suggest possible solutions. * Interact with other departments; respond to inquiries in a timely manner. * Prepare budgets for assigned departments, work with department heads to obtain input and final approval. * Ensure compliance with polices and procedures in the preparation of reconciliations, journal entries, and other general accounting activities. * Actively participate in special projects, as assigned. * Performs other duties as directed.

* Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting. * 0-3 years general accounting experience including experience in general ledger entries and account reconciliations. * J.D. Edwards experience preferred. * Effective oral and written interpersonal communication.
