Summary
In this role you will work within the Technical Operations team to support the production operation environment and provide database engineering consulting to the development teams for new products and services.
Responsibilities
* Operate System/Kernel performance optimization to maximize DB performance and reliability. * Develop and maintain detailed performance and fault monitoring for databases. * MySQL Stored Procedures, Queries, Tables and related database functions * Disaster recovery design and planning to include both distributed and/or multi-site architectures * Work with Engineering teams to design databases and schemas relate scaling trade-offs with upfront investments. * Creation and and upkeep of database system documentation and processes.
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years on MySQL (Percona preferred) or another relational database, and NoSQL (Riak, Cassandra) experience required. * Experience with high traffic and high availability production environments. * Demonstrated willingness to master new database technologies. * Proficient with Scripting (Python, Bash, Ruby) * Experience operating databases in virtualized environments. * Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate uses of storage technologies including disks, raid, SAN, SSD * Ability to participate in an on-call rotation. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field of study or similar work experience * Ability to write/create thorough documentation. **Nice to haves:** * Production knowledge with one or more of the following: MongoDB, InfluxDB, RethinkDB, and Elastic Search.
