We design and integrate FCAS systems for cutting edge aircraft like the F-35 Lightning II and the X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System. We are expanding our staff as we expand our technology and market share.
Summary
We have an immediate opening for a Systems Engineering Manager to lead the systems engineering team in our Torrance, CA facility. Our Torrance design center is at the heart of FCAS development for Unmanned Combat Aircraft (UCA). This manager will lead FCAS research and development, business capture, architecture design, and system integration efforts.
Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day execution of work by teams and team members through monitoring progress, providing technical direction, and problem solving solutions. * Mentor direct reports in all aspects of systems engineering and engineering career development. Model systems engineering industry best practices, as well as Moog core values, to promote development of world-class systems engineering talent. * Supervise Team Leads and team members providing goals, feedback and recognition and developing bench strength through career planning and progression. Actively demonstrate Performance Management of resources to optimize skills and capabilities. * Support new business initiatives though trade studies, concept development, proposal responses, and customer presentations. * Manage the product development capacity and planning process through active recruiting and retention of skilled employees. * Manage the advancement of the product development process by providing technical support, developing tools and infrastructure, facilitating learning and continuity across teams. * Participate with other Systems Engineering Managers and the Systems Chief Engineer, as a member of the Systems Engineering Leadership Team. This team sets direction for, and develops processes for, the Systems Engineering department. It also provides technology leadership by maintaining an active R&D technology roadmap, supporting R&D activities, optimizing the interplay between product technology, tools and programs, and, facilitating technology collaboration with other technologies.
Ideal Candidate
* BS in engineering, MS preferred * 15 years experience in safety critical aircraft control systems and/or actuation systems design, development, integration, and certification, including 5 years managerial experience. * The desire/ability to get things done through others – coaching and mentoring along the way * Critical thinker, adept at relationship building and leading through influence. * Due to program requirements the Systems Engineering Manager must possess or be able to obtain a US DOD Secret Security Clearance.
