Summary
The NA Industrial Hygienist will develop and implement programs to improve the industrial hygiene, ergonomic and training processes across the NA Organization including Crop Protection and Seeds and Traits. T This is a key role in developing exposure prevention for business critical developments through innovative process tools, standardization and optimization skills. This role will develop critical metrics and maintain performance oversight for program elements as well as identify and implement continual improvement methods. This position is based out of Monsanto's Global Headquarters in St. Louis, MO and reports to the ESH Seeds Lead for North America.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical oversight to the Regional IH program. Support strategic planning and tactical delivery of systems and tools for the assessment and control of occupational exposures. * Partners with regional compliance specialists and site industrial hygienist to integrate IH in to ESH Management system process using continuous improvement methodology. * Develop critical metrics and maintain performance oversight for program elements, identifying and implementing continual improvement opportunities and strategies. * Work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Recommend control strategies to mitigate hazards in existing and new processes. * Apply industry best practices and direct the proper use of site exposure assessment and inspections of operational processes, facility design, equipment and materials. Provide technical expertise supporting new Crop Protection chemical processes. * Provide follow-up with NA ESH Leads and Specialists to ensure program elements are completed and activities and performance are measured and acted upon. * Facilitate, manage and review sampling plans, evaluate exposure assessments and monitoring plans. * Coordinate and optimize IH related compliance training programs which can be consistently applied across the region. * Facilitate and manage the creation or modification of SOPs related to IH activities. * Develop a process for IH contractor approval/management and oversight. * Develop tools or implement (global tools) for IH data management systems and data extraction for visibility. * Partners with North America Occupational Medicine Physicians in exposure control and provides key input to medical surveillance. * Review chemical hazard assessments and risk mitigation efforts. * Supports new material review and approval process, including seed treatment team and Chemical Product Stewardship Council * Analyzes data for the NA region to help determine trends in all areas of ESH and recommends direction
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelors Degree required. Major in Industrial Hygiene, Safety engineering or Chemistry field preferred. * Six or more years experience in Industrial Hygiene * Overall strong relationship management, leadership and interpersonal communication skills. * Ability to successfully drive organizational change. * Results oriented with the ability to deliver on short-term goals while simultaneously advancing longer-term strategy and goals. * Knowledge of applicable regulations and guidance such as OSHA, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ACCGIH, NIOSH, etc. * Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is preferred. * Travel-Approximately 25% **Attributes:** * Strong interpersonal and project management skills * Ability to analyze information and make decisions quickly and accurately * Strong influence skills and demonstrated ability to work with networks * Detail oriented with good facilitation, communication and organizational skills * Ability to work as an individual contributor and as part of a diverse team
