Monsanto scientists are conducting research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. Monsanto is seeking a very talented Genomics Scientist to become an integral member of our Global Pipeline Analytics team with a focus on quantitative genetics. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with modeling and analysis of genetic data sets using a variety of statistical techniques.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and execute experimental research projects of high complexity. * Develop novel experimental and analytical tools for high throughput sequencing-based assays. * Evaluate and recommend new emerging technologies in relevant fields. * Create scientifically rigorous visualizations, communications, and presentations of results. * Contribute to the generation of standard protocols and intellectual property.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Skills/Experience** * PhD degree in genetics, genome sciences, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or related field. * Hands-on experience with molecular biology, assay or protocol development, high throughput methods, and massively parallel sequencing platforms. * Method development experience in one or more of the following experimental areas: de novo genome or population sequencing, expression or small RNA sequencing, epigenetic profiling, microbiome analysis, or other innovative approaches to interrogate and understand biological systems. **Desired Skills/Experience** * 2 years of post-graduate experience. * Extensive plant biology experience. * Demonstrated expertise in both experimental and computational analysis. * Fluency in standard bioinformatics tools, Python, Perl, and R. * Excellent creativity, decision making, and troubleshooting skills. * Strong analytical and organizational skills along with strong written and oral communication skills, as demonstrated through publications and presentations.
