Summary
Moderna Therapeutics is seeking a Sr./Principal Research Associate/Engineer for a position based at their Cambridge, MA site.
Responsibilities
* Assist in identification, development and optimization of mRNA synthesis and purification methodologies * Optimize unit operations to improve robustness, cycle time, throughput, and cost while maintaining product quality * Develop and evaluate scale-up and scale-down process models * Support implementation of novel process solutions into the mRNA production platform * Provide technical support to members of production group. * Identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency needed to meet critical corporate objectives, encompassing the areas of process, equipment, procedures, automation, and work flows in the Production Facility. * Support cross-functional projects with Process Innovation/ CMC PD, Production, Automation, and Analytical Development, and Chemistry.
Ideal Candidate
* BS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related field * 2-7 years of relevant industry experience * Experience with preparative chromatographic purification. * Experience working in a process development/ R&D/ high-throughput screening environment * BS with 7+ years or MS with 2+ years of experience in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related field. * Relevant experience working with biomacromolecules (RNA, DNA, proteins, mAbs) * Demonstrated proficiency with chromatographic separations as well as additional macromolecule purification and filtration techniques * Experience in process scale-up /scale-down modeling * Experience optimizing chemical reactions/enzymatic reactions. * Knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry/biochemistry is a plus * Proficiency with analytical instruments including capillary electrophoresis, HPLC/UPLC, Mass Spectrometry * Experience using bio-conjugation techniques * Familiarity with automation including liquid handlers * Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and implementation * ollaboration * Communication * Creative Problem Solving * Exemplary Work Ethic, Driven by the Mission * Risk Taking / Accountability * Desire for Impact
