Summary
The Security Services Department's overall mission is to ensure a safe and secure environment and protect MIT Lincoln Laboratory at all facilities in which staff members perform their mission of research and development. To accomplish this mission, this department formulates and implements policies, plans, and actions designed to protect facilities against threats of vandalism, accidental destruction, and sabotage; and safeguards personnel, classified and unclassified information systems, personal identifiable information, property, and other assets from exploitation and recruitment by foreign intelligence agencies. Information Security Representative-ITS Level II Information Security Representatives (ISR) work directly with the research community to ensure that applicable classified information security requirements are implemented and maintained.
Responsibilities
This position is a key component in implementing the certification and accreditation program at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. * Must maintain a high level of expertise of various operating systems. * ISR will facilitate and oversee information systems accreditation in accordance with the appropriate regulatory guidance and coordinate the proper de-certification and sanitization of classified systems and media. * Will participate in security compliance audits and vulnerability assessments on information systems. * Will coordinate and participate in the investigation and mitigation of information system security incidents, including system contaminations involving classified information. * A strong technical background is required, as this position must participate in network architecture design and review sessions to ensure security requirements are met. * Position is required to verify that DoD information security policies are enforced in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment. * Position will also be required to provide detailed security education briefings.
Ideal Candidate
**Preferred competencies:** * Experience implementing DoD information assurance requirements (NISPOM Chapter 8, ODAA ISFO, RMF, JSIG) * System administration skills across a broad set of operating systems: Windows (workstation and server), Linux (all distros), OSX, Unix * Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools (QRadar, Splunk, SecureVue, etc.) * Audit log analysis and aggregation (built in OS tools, Splunk, CornerBowl) * Experience maintaining SIPRNET environments, previous CCRI experience preferred * Thorough understanding of networking concepts **Requirements:** * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field required. CISSP certification preferred. * Candidate will be required to obtain the CISSP certification within 6 months of start date. * A minimum of 4 years of IT security experience in DoD Industrial Security is required. * Technical experience and skills, course work completed towards a degree, and industry IT certifications may be considered substitutes for education and DoD security experience. * Demonstrated capabilities in presenting ideas written and orally required. * Infrequent travel, local as well as overnight, may be required. * The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment investigation and must meet all eligibility requirements for access to classified * information including compartmented programs. * Ability to obtain and maintain a government (DoD) security clearance required. * U.S. Citizenship is required
