Summary
Ministry Spirit Medical Transport Service (Spirit) is a hospital based service that provides ground and air ambulance transportation with multiple locations in north central Wisconsin. Patient care is provided to a broad patient population of ill and injured patients. Spirit associates are utilized during down time for committee assignments, special projects and assisting other departments at their base location. This is a 24-hour per day medically directed transportation service designed to facilitate inter-facility and pre-hospital patient transports. The program also provides ALS Intercept services that vary by location. This is not a primary "911", first response medical transportation service. This service includes the transportation of infant, pediatric, and adult patients. In conjunction, Spirit works with a specialized neonatal transport team.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the EMT-Paramedic is to practice safely at a professional level which serves to build and maintain relationships with hospital departments, referring organizations, and others in order to promote integrated delivery systems. The EMT-Paramedic practices under the medical supervision of a licensed Wisconsin physician, utilizing physician directed protocols to deliver emergency and critical care for specified patients (pre-hospital at emergency sites, within the hospital setting and inter-facility transport) in accordance with the State of Wisconsin and Ministry Health Care’s standards of care, policies, and protocols.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Education Required** * High School Diploma or equivalent required * Graduate of an approved EMT-Paramedic course * National Incident Management System (NIMS) levels 100, 200, and 700 must be recorded prior to completion of orientation **Minimum Related Years of Experience ( per minimum education ) Required:** * Three years of pre-hospital, inter-facility transport or Emergency Department experience as an EMT-Paramedic strongly preferred * Three years driving experience holding a valid driver's license is required **Credential/Licensure Required** * Current State of Wisconsin EMT-Paramedic license, or eligible to obtain is required * Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification is required * National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification preferred * CAMTS approved Advanced Trauma Course or Certification preferred at time of hire, required within one year of hire * NRP preferred at the time of hire, required within one year of hire * Critical Care EMT-Paramedic endorsement preferred at the time of hire, required within one year of hire for inter-facility paramedics * Flight Paramedic - Certified (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic - Certified (CCP-C) preferred at time of hire, required within two years of hire for inter-facility paramedics * Current valid driver's license * Must meet the requirements documented in the Ministry Health Care Fleet Guidelines and Associate Driving Policy (HR-5774). The requirements are based on assigned points for violations that appear on the Motor Vehicle Check, which will be conducted at the time of hire and annually thereafter. * Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) preferred at time of hire, required within three months of hire
