Summary
The Research area within the Countrywide Product Management Department of MetLife Auto and Home, is seeking to fill a summer Intern position to analyze internal and external data and research the impact on property and casualty insurance claims and losses. You will learn about Insurance industry and gain analytical experience by working on real business assignments. Additionally, this individual is expected to propose new statistical/mathematical methodologies to solve business questions and seek opportunities to share his/her knowledge with others.
Responsibilities
* Analyze and summarize internal and external data, define findings, and propose recommendations. * Apply academic knowledge and skills to solve real business questions. * Acquire knowledge of insurance products and insurance industry. * Build predictive models to analyze data. * Work on Geographic Information System (GIS) related projects. * Research new analytical techniques. * Assist others with conducting business research by gathering/cleaning data, identifying options, and propose solutions with detailed analyses. * Perform additional duties as required.
Ideal Candidate
**Job Requirements:** * In pursuit of a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Operational Research, Actuarial or related fields. Advanced degree is preferred. * Minimum of 3.0 GPA. **Key Competencies, Qualifications and Skills, Preferred:** * Proficiency in a statistical software package, such as SAS, SPSS, R, and etc. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, such as Excel, Word and Outlook. * Strong written/oral communication skills. * Be able to work together with a team and work independently as we
