Summary
The Sr. Network Engineer will be located in San Francisco and will play an integral role in developing and maintaining the network infrastructure to support a cross-platform environment (Windows/Linux/Macintosh). The individual will work closely with the North America team to ensure high availability of critical business systems and will provide desktop support services for local and remote users, as well as interacting with vendors to gather requirements and evaluating solutions to meet emerging business needs.
Responsibilities
* Manage help desk queue in tandem with Chicago IT team. Provide desktop support for in-house staff and remote users while adhering to regional IT protocols * Support AV and collaboration tools for North America * Support and administration of IT responsible areas in production (and testing) environment which includes: servers, desktops, services (Network services, Email systems, ERP systems, Virtual Hosts) * Building, deploying and supporting Windows, Linux, ESX servers and SANs * Implement and support LAN/WAN, Wireless, internet and DMZ environments, existing and new * Evaluate and install new software releases, perform system upgrades and resolve infrastructure hardware and software related problems * Daily monitoring and administration of servers and disk performance to ensure high availability of critical business systems and services * Configure/install/maintain Open Source applications and tools * Create and maintain system support scripts/GPO's as necessary * Create and maintain support documentation and network diagrams of the enterprise network infrastructure * Perform minor moves/adds/changes on telecom infrastructure * Work reception once a month * we are not joking. at method, everyone in San Francisco takes a spin as receptionist. costumes welcome.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a skilled Sr. Network Engineer who thrives on challenge and thoroughly understands virtualized platforms, networking concepts, applications and systems integration using industry best practices. Experienced and ready to take that next step with a growth company, the Sr. Network Engineer will possess a can-do attitude and will perform tasks with a high regard for detail to build the necessary long-term infrastructure. This individual will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. * 6+ years of experience and a thorough understanding of implementing/migrating/administering Windows, Linux and Macintosh systems in an Enterprise environment; telecom experience a plus * In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN technology, Converged Network topologies, routing and switching (Cisco, HP) and IP based protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, PPP) * Experience in supporting a virtualized infrastructure environment (VMWare, ESX, EMC, SANs) * Understanding of multi site Active Directory/Exchange platforms, server structure and administration * Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, NIS, SMTP, LDAP, RDP, IIS, SQL, MySQL, Apache, PHP, etc. * Experience in deploying and supporting remote access solutions and platforms (e.g., VPN, Citrix, RDP, Remote printing) * Experience in scripting, AD group policy management and deployment of software suites through GPO's * Computer Science/Information Systems or related education background is highly preferred as well as appropriate industry certifications (CCNA, MCSE) * Organized, detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities gracefully under pressure * Stamina, character, sense of humor and work ethic appropriate for a fast-paced, team oriented company * Occasional after-hours response to critical situations may be required (remotely and/or in the office); minimal travel may be required
