Summary
The Medical Radiation Physicist is to be trained and competent in all areas of radiation oncology physics, radiation safety, treatment planning including but not limited to conventional, IMRT, IGRT, Rapid Arc, SBRT, Respiratory Gating, Gamma Knife Stereotactic radiosurgery, and Brachytherapy (HDR and LDR). The Radiation Medical Physicist will support Mercy Hospital's radiation safety officer.
Responsibilities
* Facilitates compliance with regulating and certifying agencies. * Provides physics support for Radiation Oncology * Provides physics support for the Gamma Knife Department * Provides physics support for Nuclear Medicine * Provides physics support for Diagnostic Radiology and Cath Lab. * Radiation Safety Program * Participates in organization activities. * Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. * Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * MS or Ph.D, in Medical Physics or a closely related field. **Experience:** * Will be qualified to assume the responsibilites of radiation safety officer for the hospital and its entities. **Certifications:** * Certification with the American Board of Radiology and/or the American Board of Medical Physics. **Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:** * Good communication and interpersonal skills. **Preferred Experience:** * Previous experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist is desirable. * Gamma Knife experience is also desirable.
