Summary
Under the supervision of the Radiology Leader, performs CT examinations. Performs a variety of procedures which require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation to obtain CT. Will perform all work with accord to the mission, vision, and values of Mercy.
Responsibilities
* Perform CT and radiographic examinations utilizing established protocols of technical factors, patient positioning, and computer manipulation. * Prepare and administer contrast agent utilizing proper equipment and procedures for examinations as outlined by procedure protocols. * Instruct patient of special requirements (i.e., breathing, motion, etc) and provide appropriate explanation of the procedure. * Ensure accuracy and completeness of physician orders, requisitions and all associated computer system functions. * Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric * Complete all posted daily technologist responsibilities. * Perform Continuous Quality Improvement functions as assigned. * These could include data collection, patient surveys, and participation on quality teams.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * Minimum 2 year AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology, associate or baccalaureate degree preferred. * Certification with ARRT. CT registered or registry eligible within 12 months of hire preferred. * Good oral and written communication skills. 12 months experience preferred. * Radiation Safety training & MRI safety training for non-MRI Personnel. **Licensure:** * Certification with ARRT. CT registered or registry eligible within 12 months of hire. **Experience:** * 12 months experience preferred. **Certifications:** * Certification with ARRT. CT registered or registry eligible within 12 months of hire. * Must obtain American Heart Association BLS within a reasonable time-frame (generally within 6 months), based on skills, knowledge and experience. **Other:** * Good oral and written communication skills.
