Summary
Memjet has a need for a full time Mechanical Architect / Systems Engineer reporting to the VP of Engineering. Memjet develops print engines and printing technology for commercial, wide format, labels, and desktop printing markets. This position will have ongoing responsibility for driving the mechanical architecture and setting system level expectations for new print engine and printing components designed for our OEM customers. This is a technical leadership role to define the mechanical architecture of our engine and component product designs and working with the design teams to assure the system requirements are met and applied broadly across the various print engines under development. Key objectives are to define the mechanical system requirements for products and driving the design requirements to assure the print engines and components can meet customer needs.
Responsibilities
* Lead the definition of mechanical product requirements for print engines and components * Assist in translating OEM needs into product requirements * Participate in defining the product print quality specifications for engines and components for use by OEM customers * Lead mechanical engineering architecture meetings with the product design teams and the subsystem teams (printhead, ink) to address system level optimization and initiate and drive rapid learning cycle investigations where appropriate * Identify and lead the strategy for development of mechanical component designs to enhance the productivity and performance of Memjet components and systems * Lead lessons learned activities to ensure product development and processes are continually improved
Ideal Candidate
* Broad mechanical design experience * Print technology expertise in IDS, Maintenance, media transport, paper pick and sensing, & print quality * Manufacturing technology expertise in machining, sheet metal, plastics, and elastomers * Expertise in the use of electromechanical components such as motors, solenoids, sensors, encoders * Broad system understanding in Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware and Software areas * Experience with full life cycle development * Design Validation testing and transition to production experience * Implementation skills in system testing * Knowledge on NPI transition * Knowledge on translating design testing to production testing and audit * Goal setting * Tolerance of ambiguity * Project management * Decisiveness * Organization and Planning * Commitment to task * Leadership * Decision making and problem solving
