Summary
The Program Manager I position will lead, direct and organize the planning, and execution of high-tech, new product development project teams from concept to commercialization. Responsible for achieving successful implementation of projects and managing all activities required to define, design, develop and deliver new Neurosurgery products or systems to Medtronic customers.
Responsibilities
* Understand product and business objectives and manage projects in alignment with business goals. * Lead project teams comprised of a broad range of diverse cross-functional members, potentially including outside vendors and spanning multiple geographic locations. Foster a high-performing, highly motivated, collaborative team environment of trust, empowerment, accountability and recognition. * Seek and analyze information from all cross-functional sources to understand the project scope and what activities need to be accomplished (including who, how, duration, effort). * Lead planning efforts for assigned projects to develop project plan, project contract, project risk analysis (including risk mitigations), schedule and budget in conjunction with the project team to achieve the project goals. * Facilitate maintenance of an integrated, detailed schedule in MS Project. * Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. * Facilitate effective communications with project team, support team and management. This includes timely, unbiased communication of project status and issues. * Report and escalate to management potential issues as needed. * Proactively anticipate and identify risk areas and alert stakeholders. * Proactively determine and make recommendations for optimal paths for project success. * Identify and monitor project performance metrics. Analyze and present trends and recommendations to peers, the team leader, and management. * Maintain and continuously improve the project management process, guidelines, tools / templates, best practices, and overall implementation. Train teams on adopted practices. * Conduct project updates with Management in a professional and unbiased manner. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations. * Ensure all activities are in compliance with the Medtronic Code of Conduct and all Quality System Requirements. * Expect travel to range from 0-15% depending upon the individual project.
Ideal Candidate
**Education Required:** Bachelor’s degree **Years Of Experience:** 5+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years prior relevant experience **Specialized Knowledge Required:** Experience leading technical projects in an academic or industry setting with experience managing project schedules/project budgets **Preferred Qualifications:** * BS degree in an engineering or science discipline (B.E./M.E./E.E./I.E.). * Prior work experience in medical device preferred. * Project management experience (including experience in a leadership capacity). * Ability to influence others. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Demonstrated decision making skills. * Ability to lead projects in a matrix structure. * Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and across the organization. * Good interpersonal skills. * Performance Management Leadership and Coaching Skills. * Good presentation skills. * Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint. * Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly. * Ability to manage through ambiguity. * High degree of initiative and self-motivation. * Lean/Six Sigma/DRM experience. * PMP Certification preferred.
