Database Engineer

* Provide accurate estimates for assigned work. * Document design, and deliver high quality code, and collaborate on testing. * Fix assigned software defects on time and to quality specifications. * Uphold change management, security, and data retention policies. * Represent team in code reviews. * Advise and mentor more junior team members. * Interview new team member candidates. Weed out the weak and hire the best via a broadside of cannon, or whatever mildly more appropriate means are available to you at the time.

* 3-5 years’ experience in database development using Agile methodology (Scrum) * 3+ years’ experience with Linux (Ubuntu or Debian preferred) * Proven ability to thrive in a multi-team environment * Software defect tracking methodologies * Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, etc.) * Understanding of database replication and backup/restore process * Understands when to Fetch, Pull and Push using Git. Resolves merge conflicts like a pirate Dr. Phil. * Deserted island map-making skills * Object-oriented and procedural programming * Learn new technologies * Read and understand business and software requirements, and how to implement them * Read, understand, and maintain high quality, maintainable, repeatable SQL * Participates in code reviews * Work independently to test and debug SQL and code * Transactional INNODB MySQL * At least one other database or NoSQL product, such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis * ACID and CRUD properties (A good start is knowing what these mean)
