The primary purpose of the Sr. Research Scientist in Cancer Prevention is to plan, coordinate, design, supervise and carry out research projects. Impacts cancer research and prevention efforts through the institution.
- Facilitates research planning, management and collaboration of assigned research projects.
- Develops annual operating plan and monitors progress of assigned projects and studies.
- Assists with the development of new research programs and initiatives designated by PI.
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs, and participates in a series of experiments designed to supply: specific information as a part of a larger molecular epidemiologic project; answer to questions in a limited field; or, in development of improved techniques. Provides supervision to pre-doctoral students, post-doctoral fellow and other junior research personnel in the technical and safety aspects of the laboratory.
- Performs advanced laboratory research work with independent judgment and execution of experiments. Manually works with human biological samples.
- Compiles, writes, and submits reports to superior and submit results of research for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Closely works with faculty to develop, submit and evaluate grants.
- Develops and coordinates interdepartmental and/or inter-institutional collaborations.
- Reviews and evaluates research activity and data of the research team.
- Reviews, revises and directs the submission of progress reports and related communications.
EducationRequired:
- PhD in Natural Science, related field or medical degree
ExperienceRequired:
- Five years of experience in experimental or scientific work
