Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient performance of plant processing systems in their assigned areas. The work includes on-line troubleshooting and repairs, operator training, preventive maintenance and identification of planned work/improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for area consisting of multiple systems. * Troubleshoot, adjust, repair and perform preventative/predictive maintenance on existing production equipment in areas of responsibility to restore machinery, building and utilities and all associated equipment to proper functionality. * Follow safety/LOTO procedures. * Communicate with oncoming shift technicians and managers, as well as maintenance system technicians any issues or ongoing problems with equipment. * Complete, transfer/close unplanned work orders in a timely manner. * Complete daily, weekly and bi-weekly PM and/or Planned work orders in primary area of responsibility. * Identify area improvement opportunities and enter planned work orders * Work with the Maintenance Leads and Operations to make ongoing system improvements. * Make daily machinery evaluations for proper equipment functioning. Correct any issues discovered. * Assist Lead Maintenance Technician in technical troubleshooting the process, mechanical and electrical (power and interlock) issues which prevent meeting the shift or weekly schedules. * Maintain an open and professional line of communication with other associates and managers. * Work with the shift leads on any logic programming changes that need to be made to restore the proper functioning of equipment. * Maintain the shared equipment in the Maintenance shop. * Assist in routine shutdowns and start-ups around common down days. * Resource during project installation. * Assist in system start-ups. * Train operators on operational set-up issues. * Demonstrate a food safety quality culture in actions, words and spirit. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Education, experience, and skill Requirements:** * Must have a high school diploma or equivalent * Minimum of 2 years industrial maintenance experience * Must be proficient in the use of industrial mechanics, electricians, instrumentation and controls, rigging/millwork tools * Knowledge of Electrical systems using 480 volt 3 phase as well as 240 volt through 24 volt single phase systems * Controls and instrumentation knowledge including, but not limited to, Panel View HMI systems, resistance temperature detectors, pressure differential transmitters, flowmeters, and 4-20 MA loop control systems * Ability to troubleshoot PLC hardware including Allen Bradley PLCs: PLC 5, SLC500 and Control Logix as well as others used in the field. Ability to work on Panel Views. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints as well as basic to intermediate PLC ladder logic * Working knowledge of Allen Bradley, Magnetek, Danfoss, Altivar and Square D variable frequency drives and other common drives used in the field. * Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems * Working knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems and how they relate to each other * Working knowledge of Allen Bradley drives tools software * Material machining and welding knowledge required. * Predictive maintenance skills. * Demonstrated PC skills including the use of the MIS/Sap system to close and plan work orders. * System analysis and troubleshooting skills * Demonstrated knowledge of industrial plant systems, equipment and operations. * Team working skills at a variety of functional levels **Physical Requirements:** * Must be able to lift 40 lbs. * Must be able to work under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high, and/or confined spaces and have full mobility to climb stairs and ladders.
