Summary
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an immediate opening for a Loss Control Specialist in its Garyville, Louisiana Marine Transportation office. The Loss Control Specialist conducts loss/gain analysis for Marathon Petroleum’s marine oil/product purchases and deliveries. They manage loss/gain claims, conduct cargo inspections, third party inspector audits and ensure procedural compliance relative to loss control and measurement standards. The Loss Control Specialist will report to the Loss Control Supervisor.
Responsibilities
* The Loss Control Specialist will conduct cargo loss/gain measurement analysis, as well as investigate loss/gain claims, and monitor loss/gain prevention procedures for Marine; monitor loss/gain for marine crude, product, feed stock, asphalt movements and conduct voyage analysis as necessary; maintain database spreadsheets on petroleum movements, tracking annual totals and analyzing trends. * This position will also represent the Company on selected cargo movements; negotiate and file cargo claims for the Company; resolve cargo discrepancy issues; attend select loadings and discharges of product vessels; appoint acceptable cargo surveyors and selectively audit cargo inspection companies. * Additionally, the Loss Control Specialist will ensure compliance and thorough understanding of Company and industry standards/policies relating to loss control; establish and maintain functional relationships and communication with peers in the cargo measurements control field; and represent the Company at various industry groups and associations as needed.
Ideal Candidate
* High school education or equivalent is required and a minimum of five years' marine-related experience (cargo measurement, loss control, claims negotiation, voyage analysis, etc.) is strongly preferred. * The successful candidate will also have strong communication and critical thinking skills, highly-developed technical and professional knowledge and skills, as well as a strong drive to achieve results.
