Summary
Our designers are a talented bunch who love to collaborate and break norms. Unlike the typical setting, they don’t have to fight for input, but are rather highly respected around here. This team also happens to be growing at a rapid pace and is in need of a captain at the helm. Your role will be to work with the Director of Design to inspire, manage, and grow our web product design team, whose skills span research, prototyping, information architecture, UI and UX design. You will also be contributing your own expertise to projects as needed, with a focus on UX strategy. This role reports to the Director of Design.
Responsibilities
* Provide UX guidance, oversight, and mentorship to the team, set expectations, and help promote a fun, highly collaborative team culture as well as continue building the team as we grow * Work closely with the UX manager and marketing managers to advance patterns and standards as well as finalize timelines and deliverables * Work with the team to ensure exceptional design deliverables; set and exceed best practices and standards, measurable impacts, and design integrity in the final product * Motivate the team to create designs that constantly push boundaries to keep MailChimp at the forefront of UX design * Serve as a design advocate through project strategy leadership, talks, training, blogs, and other methods
Ideal Candidate
* 6+ years relevant industry experience * 3+ years experience managing design teams, preferably in a SaaS environment * Experience on teams designing for web and mobile * Bachelor degree in relevant field highly preferred or equivalent experience * Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with high degree of emotional intelligence * Portfolio to illustrate applied experience as the creative process leader on projects * Embrace change and hyper-growth with nimble ease in adapting
