Director of Technology

- In this role you'll be responsible for managing our technology development department, currently 5 in-house developers, and a network of freelancers, maintaining order, and devising and implementing systems and technologies to standardize and progress the work that we're doing for our clients. Requirements - Manage and grow the in-house development team - Manage outside freelancers as needed - Work with Production and Account departments to determine appropriate schedules and timelines for digital projects - Oversee the entire development and deployment of client projects (front and back end development through hosting); step in where needed to keep things on track - Devise solution(s) based on client requirements and estimate the effort/cost involved; participation in the RFP response process - Able to see the big picture, think strategically, "triage" vs "long term solution" - Experience managing technical teams - Experience collaborating with creative teams, "translating" between the two ways of thinking - Experience with LAMP environment (and PHP development specifically), willing to "get dirty" and write code when needed - Experience with sysadmin role (linux, AWS) and general IT background (networking, file sharing)

Preferred skills - Experience implementing hosting solutions on AWS, specifically CloudFront, EC2, S3, and RDS - Experience troubleshooting desktop issues - Experience with networking (routing, VLANs, firewalls) - Experience administering linux servers - Experience administering file, web, database services - Experience with DNS (for example, BIND) Desired characteristics - Ability to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced environment - Fast learner, can quickly come up to speed with different technologies - Strong knowledge and keen interest in emerging tools and technologies - Excellent problem solving skills and loves technical challenges - Excellent analytical and communication skills - Positivity, enthusiasm, motivation, energy, and stellar attention to detail - Strength as a collaborative team player
