We are currently seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support our data platforms. The successful applicant will have hands-on senior level experience supporting SQL Server 2012/2014 in a rapidly growing environment with experience implementing and managing large, scalable and highly available database systems.
- Management of production and staging database environments for our customer facing SaaS application and internal systems
- Management of backups, high availability and disaster recovery solutions including replication and Always-On
- Troubleshoot performance trouble areas and data anomalies as they arise
- Work closely with development to build plans for future architecture and technology
- Work closely with Technical Support to investigate customer concerns around data or function
- Creation of TSQL and/or PowerShell scripts to update databases, automate processes and simplify management
- Management of job scheduling application for database and system tasks
- Participate in on-call rotation to support systems 24x7
- Provide monitoring and capacity management of the database systems
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- 8+ years system operations of multi-platform operating systems and technologies
- 6+ years Microsoft SQL Server management, support and monitoring including SQL, SSAS, SSRS and SSIS with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
- Extensive experience implementing and managing SQL Server HA/DR solutions
- Expertise troubleshooting and tuning SQL Server databases and platforms
- Experience with security management
- Microsoft Operating System management (Windows Server 2008 R2/2012)
- Experience with PowerShell and Linux shell scripting
- Experience with automated deployment methods and version control systems
- Experience working with a job scheduler application to manage database jobs centrally
Desired Experience:
- Knowledge of provisioning/managing of disks/LUNs for database systems
- Experience managing non-Microsoft relational database environments
- Experience managing alternate DB technologies like NoSQL and “Big Data” databases
- Experience managing MPP systems (Teradata, GreenPlum)
- Experience managing cloud based database environments
- The ability to champion projects in a fast paced, ambiguous setting
- With an eye focused on future goals, can bring a strong case for technology selection
- Good analytical skills
