Summary
The Lucasfilm Advanced Development Group (ADG) is looking for a Manager, Engineering to join our team. As a Manager, Engineering you will ensure we have a world-class engineering team. You will excel at developing high-performing innovative engineers in a positive energy environment. You will implement strategy, establish and review projects, negotiate priorities with clients and communicate department direction and progress. Your familiarity with modern agile development methodologies will enable you to bridge gaps between individual contributors and production management. You will champion our culture with belief in our mission, a principled engineering approach, and exuberance for the Star Wars universe.
Responsibilities
* Directly manage part of the ADG engineering team. Provides support and guidance to part of ADG engineering team; ensures constant flow of communication. * Maintain positive productive relationships with stakeholders inside and outside our group. Collaborates with other Managers/Supervisors to maintain coherent direction and resolve conflicts across the department * Make sure each engineer understands expectations and where their work fits in. Oversee development, testing and implementation, determines project priorities and resolves design and scheduling conflicts. Set goals and expectations, provide clear direction and guidance to each engineer. * Make sure production management has information it needs to track progress. Interface with team and project leads to help staff projects, estimate and schedule development, and meet delivery commitments. * Evangelize and set an example of our culture and values. Works to ensure sound development practices and reusable solutions to improve systems and their components. * Present opportunities for engineers to improve their skills and increase knowledge. Conduct team annual performance reviews, ensures ongoing training and development
Ideal Candidate
**Education / Experience:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering * Minimum 10 years software development experience plus 2 years prior management experience. * At least 2 shipped products in AAA games or other 3D graphics industry. **Required Skills / Competencies:** * Technical background as an individual contributor, preferably in graphics or animation. * Solid understanding of the science and practice of managing people. * Experience with light-weight agile development process. * Exceptional Communication Skills **Preferred Skills / Competencies:** * Experience with parallel execution environments. * Experience with motion analysis. **Technical Skills:** * Working knowledge of JIRA and Perforce. * Good knowledge of C++.
