Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for performing technical activities on a variety of projects related to electro-mechanical, aerospace, and robotic systems. Tasks include organizing and executing research, risk reduction development activities, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Strong communication skills are required as this position will entail direct engagement with project teams, technicians, and vendors. The Mechanical Engineer will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team that is formed to achieve a project's particular goals.

Responsibilities
  • Apply creative thinking skills to solve complex engineering challenges
  • Ability to work in a team environment, eagerness to take on challenges, and motivation to actively seek and lead assignments
  • Interface with CAD designers to generate appropriate technical and design documentation
  • Collaborate with technicians on assembly of prototype hardware and provide input on design improvements
  • Perform trade studies, laboratory testing, data analysis and reporting
  • Communicate results and progress in written and oral communications to project leadership
  • Complete projects and tasks within time and budget
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented
Ideal Candidate
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Two to Seven years' work experience, which may include college internships, designing, building, and prototyping complex electro-mechanical systems
  • U.S. citizenship is required

DESIRED:

  • CAD design experience using SOLIDWORKS or Pro/Engineer
  • Experience with aircraft composites and advanced materials
  • Hands on experience building test setups and prototype hardware
  • Experience using LabVIEW based data acquisition systems
