About Lever
We founded Lever in 2012 to tackle the most strategic challenge that companies face: how to grow their teams. We're injecting the values we respect – collaboration, transparency, and humanity – into our software and re-imagining how organizations can think about growth, with talent and teamwork at the center.
Summary
We’re looking for an engineering manager who is inspired to mentor, grow, and help teams succeed, especially when the team is still small and nimble. You’re an experienced people manager and adept project manager who can guide developers to perform at 110% (without sacrificing sleep) and also remove any blockers that may appear.
Responsibilities
As an engineering manager, you’ll lead a team of product developers as they build new features for our core web app. You’ll keep the team engaged as we scale up; make sure that projects are running without a hitch; and bridge the gap with Product & Design to make sure that what we are building is on target and prioritizing customer value. As we onboard bigger customers and continue to evolve our hiring product, you’ll guide your team to execute with efficiency, consistency, and, above all, empathy. That’s the Lever way.
Ideal Candidate
**Within 3 months, you’ll** * Be leading a team of talented Lever engineers. You'll be guiding the professional and technical development of your team members that combine their professional goals with the company's goals and objectives. * Be holding regular 1:1s to provide continuous feedback. * Learn Design Thinking and how Lever builds products. * Guide engineering pods towards better implementation specs and project execution. **Within 6 months, you’ll** * Build the hiring plan for the team, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing. * Work with the Eng leadership team to align, establish and promote team priorities. * Instill a strong sense of ownership in your team. **Within 12 months, you’ll** * Implement org-wide technical and process improvements. * Represent Lever engineering at industry events. * Maintain prioritized backlog with product managers and your team. * Manage the tradeoffs between immediate product deliverables and tech debt.
