Lehi Valley Trading Company is a family owned business based in East Mesa. We specialize in snack food wholesale, private labeling and retail brands. We have nearly 30 years of experience in the food industry and manufacture many of our items such as granola, popcorn, brittle and trail mix at our facilities.
Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities performed by employees in either the manufacturing or packaging of product. They will monitor the workflow for efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of operations. The supervisor will support compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, FDA, HACCP, and other regulations. The supervisor will support the effective utilization and preservation of the company’s physical assets as well as creating a positive work environment within the team that encourages innovation.
Responsibilities
* Coordinates the activities of employees engaged in the manufacturing or packaging of product to include the machine operators and material handlers. * Confers with supervisors to coordinate the output of product and activities within or between departments. * Encourages safety and sanitation regulations. * Follows and encourages team to follow work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. * Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects and malfunctions and informs management on discrepancies. * Observes work and monitors gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production standards. * Reads and follows work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluates current production estimates and outputs. * Recommends and implements measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency. * Recommends on employee actions such as hiring, evaluations, and promotions. * Complies with Food Safety standards and implements measures and processes to comply with laws, regulations and standards. Supports external audits and implements improvement measures. * Develops constructive and cooperative relationships with other leaders and staff members. Acts as a liaison with other shifts, other Production Supervisors, and Customer Service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction in helping to address customer concerns. * Encourages and motivates the workforce towards a positive work environment by building mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members. * Supports the developmental needs for staff and provides the necessary coaching, mentoring or training to improve staff knowledge and skills.
Ideal Candidate
* High School diploma or equivalent required. Additional college coursework is a plus. * Bilingual (English and Spanish) communication skills are required both speaking and writing. * 3-5 years of experience, knowledge and skills in the manufacturing or packaging of food products. * Must have food safety knowledge and experience in areas such as FDA, GMP, SQF, and HACCP. * Must have good communication skills both oral and written to convey information or ideas effectively and the ability demonstrate active listening skills. Must have good communication delivery and technique to present information or changes to the masses. * Must have good skills in coordinating resources as well as conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and troubleshoot and determine causes of operating errors and finding solutions. * Must have good interpersonal relationships to be able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships across the business. Dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations. * Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and packaging of goods. * Must have skills to be able to encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members. Must have the successful experience in creating an environment that brings employees together and reconcile differences. Must also have some training/instructional experience appropriate to mentor and provide guidance to team members. * Must have good knowledge and skills in computers Excel, Outlook, Internet browsing and practical application of mathematics to solve problems. Must also have knowledge of bar code technology and electronic data interchange. * Must be able to lift 40 lbs. unassisted.
