Summary
Leggett and Platt, Incorporated is looking for a Product Engineer to join our Genesis Seating Product Development team. As the bridge between industrial designers and manufacturing, you'll help us walk that fine line between aesthetic beauty and the constraints of manufacturability. Our goal is to develop products that are both visually appealing and cost-effective. You'll work on cradle-to-grave development for new furniture product lines that require multiple components and materials. We are looking for a team player with good communication skills. We need someone who thrives at the exchange of ideas and loves the challenge of interacting with multiple project teams across multiple companies.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with peers and the Director of Product Development to ensure projects are on time and within scope * Utilize design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to integrate product design and process planning * Mechanical design in SolidWorks * Manage projects from inception to manufacture * Labor to build an effective feedback loop across multiple teams in multiple companies * Communicate regularly with Industrial Designers * Work with manufacturing (prototyping, testing, quality, assembly, etc.) to ensure designs are both viable and feasible
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering * 3-5 years of experience in product development a plus, recent graduates will be considered * Strong mechanical aptitude with a love for design * Proficient with 3D modeling, SolidWorks a plus
