Summary
Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a Product Development Engineer to be responsible for the coordination and management of product development projects, including the design, building, and testing of cushion and seating prototypes for upholstered furniture. Based in High Point, NC, the role will consult with mechanical engineers, operations employees, and quality assurance to develop and manufacture new cushion and furniture hardware products.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and directs activities of all seating product design and engineering processes for upholstered furniture - Uses universal testers and basic cycle testers to analyze new product designs - Oversees the design process, including coordinating with external and internal customers on timely design finalization - Advises senior management of design opportunities - Drives continuous improvement and cost reduction
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone to have excellent communication skills, strong initiative, a proven track record of project management abilities, and the aptitude to accomplish the goals of the position. - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience - 3-5 years of manufacturing experience - Strong knowledge of furniture hardware manufacturing and design processes - Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and Solid Modeling CAD programs - Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) systems - Ability to think analytically and critically
