Summary
As a content marketing writer at Leadpages, you'll be joining a team and a company that truly values great writing. (In fact, the company has its roots in our founder's blog.) Your words and thoughts will help engage and educate prospective customers and add to larger conversations about digital marketing, small business, and technology. You'll be encouraged to dive deep and explore broadly while working toward clear department and company goals for growth.
Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will shift and grow but to start with, you will: * Pitch, develop, research, and write 2+ action-oriented blog posts a week that help our different audiences improve their digital marketing efforts and understand how our products fit into their business * Help grow and execute an outreach program to get our content the exposure it deserves * Create content for other contexts, such as emails, educational resources, and guest posts for other publications * Optimize and repurpose existing content to connect with and convert new readers * Work with our team of marketing and product experts and designers to develop new and better content formats to reach new audiences (and identify 10x growth opportunities) * Continually generate new ideas for improving our content and content processes * Be an essential part of our web-content production efforts, from setting up and optimizing blog posts to building landing pages * Support campaigns and initiatives across the department and company in other ways as needed
Ideal Candidate
**What you've done:** You have a unique combination of skills, talents, and mindset, including: * 1+ years of experience writing for digital publications, including research-based long-form content * Exceptional writing skills combined with a love of collaboration. You know you're good, but you also know that you're even better when you have a good editor and creative teammates on your side. * Excellent research and interviewing skills. When there's something you don't know, you know where you can find it out. You're either trained as a journalist or tend to think like one, and always reach for interesting facts where others might settle for fluff. * Tons of initiative. You don't wait for someone to give you assignmentsyou're always watching what's happening with our company, our field, and our customers, and you're ready to turn it into unique and actionable content for our audience ASAP. * A taste for data. You know which metrics matter for your content and keep a close eye on them. In your content and your process alike, you're handy with basic statistical, numerical, and technical concepts, and you rigorously investigate your conclusions to make sure they're built on sound logic. **Extra credit:** * Bachelors or masters degree in journalism or another writing-intensive field * Familiarity with SEO best practices as they evolve * Experience working with digital marketing tools * Experience using WordPress or another content management system **Who you are:** * Being detail-oriented isn't just a soundbite for you, but one of your genuine qualities. * You know what 'fast-paced' really means and you embrace it. * What you don't know, you'll jump right in and learn. You can teach yourself whatever you need to know and you're not afraid to go find solutions to difficult problems that crop up. Technology is your friend, not your foe. * You never say "That's not my job."
