Senior Designer

Landor is seeking a Senior Designer to explore and conceptualize design options and solutions that maintain Landor’s vision and creative beliefs– ‘great ideas expertly and beautifully crafted and delivered with rigor and flair’. The Senior Designer will work either independently or in conjunction with Design Directors or Senior Designers, evaluate design options, develop and push to find ‘big ideas’ based on design strategy and the creative brief. This position will be located in the San Francisco office.

**Landor Fundamentals:** - Coordinates projects with outside resources to facilitate production of deliverables. - Ensures all correspondence, materials, presentations, proposals, etc., seen by prospective and existing clients are error-free, of highest quality and always relevant to the client’s issues. - Partners effectively with all departments to ensure delivery of on-time, high-quality deliverables that address all relevant prospective clients’ requirements. - Communicates findings and recommendations in a clear and compelling manner in written, oral and presentation forms. - Provides back up and archiving. - Sharing and importing best practices and resources with peers within broader Landor network. - Interacts in a positive, professional and motivating manner. **Creative Excellence:** - Provide leadership for designers by managing project assignments. - Conducts conceptual exploration, including drawing, sketching, research and thumbnails. - Establishes directions and design solutions; ensures implementation of directions from concept through production. - Able to put forward a point of view not just on their own work but the work of others. - Proficiency in all creative software. - Ensures and maintains specialization expertise (corporate identity, packaging, environments, digital) within the team. - Proven ability to be handle multiple projects/tasks at one time. - Assists in award entries **Strategic Brand and Design Sense:** - Assist in evaluating and contributing to developing and writing competitive and breakthrough design strategies and plans. - Is capable of leading an internal team toward optimal brand solutions. - Can communicate design strategy to various audiences. - Has developed a sophisticated understanding of design. - Present design solutions to the client in a strategic manner. **Thought Leadership:** - Support the development of thought leadership pieces for the team. **Commercial Awareness:** - Is aware of studio utilization and profitability on assigned projects. - Partners with Design Director’s to maintain high utilization. **People and Team:** - Seeks out opportunities for personal creative growth by working outside area of specialization. - Responsible for individual performance management of any direct reports, including performance appraisals and interim performance reviews. **Organizational Skills:** - May be involved in recommendations on creative team make-up. - Helps with project planning and organization. - Delegates tasks in organized manner. - Monitors timeline and deadlines. - Efficiently backs up in an organized manner on the server.

- The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or a related field and 3-5 years of experience in a branding/design agency or similar environment. - Must have a passion for design. Must be an excellent communicator. Should have excellent technical skills, including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Should have familiarity with new media software applications such as Flash, After Effects, Premiere, FinalCut , Dream Weaver as well as 3D programs. - Knowledge of art materials, fabrication techniques, printing process and press runs. - Effective communication skills, written and verbal. Evidence of strategic and creative vision that supports client goals. - Evidence of an understanding of consumers and competition.
