Summary

This position will support the strategic planning and leadership teams through collection, compilation and analysis of marketing intelligence, planning/developmental data, organizational data, financial data, performance measurement and sales data relating to the Kindred Healthcare and the Healthcare industry, in support of implementation of Kindred's strategic plan.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Collects, summarizes and validates market performance and management information, including competitor offerings (products, pricing and services.) Develops reporting models (scorecards, dashboards, and other metrics) to measure key performance indicators.
  • Extracts and/or collects data from multiple internal and external sources (Business Warehouse, SAP, sites of care, etc.) Verifies the relevance and correctness of the data.
  • Prepares interpretative reports, including tables, graphs and summaries derived from the data analysis. Makes recommendations based on the analyses.
  • Prepares presentations and communications for internal and external stakeholders, including customers, teammates in field operations, and executive/senior leadership.
  • Monitors, analyzes and reports variances from plan/forecasts, including benchmark comparisons.
  • Maintains documentation of past and current business process measurements.
  • Monitors healthcare market trends, planning scenarios and competitive issues that impact strategy and communicates results to strategic and operational planning areas.
  • Provides project management support for strategic teams and key strategic initiatives.

Job Scope:

  • Strategic Planning is structured around five functional areas in support of Kindred's overall population health management strategy. A strategic planning analyst supports each of the functional areas:
  • Enterprise & Strategy Alignment
    • Supports 3-5 year enterprise strategy and annual refresh
    • Performs competitive intelligence & landscape analysis
    • Facilitates the alignment between strategy and operations
    • Supports and/or manages special projects as assigned
  • Strategic Growth Planning / Network Development
    • Supports strategic growth planning in Kindred's current and future Integrated Care Markets
    • Supports coordination of network development pipeline reporting and management
    • Provide additional support to Integrated Care Markets as needed
  • Product Development
    • Supports the design, standardization, implementation, and analysis of Kindred's clinical and population health management product offerings
  • Payment Model Innovation
    • Supports, analyzes and helps coordinate Kindred's participation in bundled payment, shared savings, risk, and ACO preferred provider agreements
  • Operational Execution
    • Helps coordinate and facilitate implementation and operational execution related to Kindred's executed contracts with external healthcare organizations

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience utilizing data warehouse and software programs to collect, maintain, manipulate and present data.
  • Experience in practical application of statistical analysis to business problems and situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Highly motivated, self starter with the ability to adapt to change, exercise initiative and use independent judgment.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop camaraderie with teams, to elicit group participation and to help team members become comfortable working with each other.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, Word & Outlook

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health administration, business administration, finance or related field required. MBA, MPH, or other related Master's level degree preferred.
  • 2 years experience in healthcare and/or strategy operations role within a complex organization.
