Responsibilities
- Product Design and Development of lighting fixtures and ceiling fans for all Kichler business units and sales channels including Decorative (Interior, Exterior, Bath) E-Commerce, Home Center, and Elan product lines. - Analysis of Lighting and Decorative Product Industries and application of this knowledge into manufacturable solutions which meet the needs of Product Plans and Project Briefs. - Exploration of current and future trends and implementation into salable designs for all brands - Research and exploration into new materials and manufacturing techniques to provide new and innovative solutions to fans and lighting designs - Presentation of designs throughout product development process including trend research, specific design inspiration, and multiple design solutions which meet the needs of product plans and project briefs. - Review and revision of designs throughout development process at CAD and prototype level interface with Product Management team to help insure designs are fitting Product needs. - International travel, including travel to China to work directly at key vendors - Domestic travel to Lighting showrooms and trade shows for trend research and customer feedback - Work with Design Team and Product Management on critique and feedback of potential designs Interaction and communication within and across Kichler functional areas (Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Executive Team, etc), as well as externally (Customers, Strategic Partners, Vendors, Media, etc) - Any and all other essential job functions as required by management
Ideal Candidate
- 3-5 years experience in Product Design Field (Lighting Design Experience preferred) - Bachelor degree or higher in industrial/ product/interior design and/or architecture or equivalent experience - Strong creative problem-solving skills - Highly creative and trend-forward - Good communicator - Strong presentation skill (verbal and visual) that include the ability to explain and substantiate design direction to designers and non-designers - Willingness to work in a team-based environment - Strong time-management skills with ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines - Proficient in Solidworks, Keyshot, Photoshop, as well as MS Word and Excel
