A Kforce client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Tempe, Arizona (AZ). This position will be responsible to design, develop, and production launch electrical systems, components, and assemblies in support of Electrical & Battery powered equipment. This position will also help develop strategies, technology roadmaps, and product life cycle management. This individual will use standard engineering processes such as benchmarking, critical path planning, DFMEA, DVP&R for assigned projects. This individual will support results through continuous improvement, professional and technical growth, collaboration and team focused participation. The Engineer will support new product development and current production.
- Perform detailed electrical system and part design using CAD/e-CAD software
- Manage part and systems through product life cycle including Part Data Management
- Develop component, assembly, and system, and product level engineering specifications
- Manage/minimize product design risk through product development tools such as design verification/validation, DFMEA, and design reviews
- Assist Project Management to develop and maintain a schedule
- Coordinate & lead team activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
- Interface with internal customers to provide project status report and ensure customer requirements are met
- Support current production product design activities which include assembly, regulatory compliance, cost improvements and warranty improvements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering; minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ yrs experience with 3D CAD software, experience with UG NX 7, 8 or 9 is plus but not required
- 3+ yrs experience with e-CAD software (Altium preferred or other e-CAD software)
- Experience/knowledge of electrical based regulatory/safety standards such FCC, UL, ETL, CE, etc.
- Experience designing digital/analog circuit boards and imbedded software
- Experience designing electrical systems to meet domestic & international regulatory/safety standards, such as FCC, UL, ETL, CE, etc.
- Ability to guide and perform trouble shooting techniques and root cause diagnosis of electrical system issues
- Experienced designing electrical systems that minimizes part complexity through strategies, scalable configuration management schemes and system development
- Experience with product design risk management tools such as design reviews, DFMEA, and DVP&R
- Experience with communicating with off-shore vendors
- Experience with designing for high volume manufacturing of consumer goods a plus
- Experience/knowledge of brushed & brushless AC/DC motors and their control a plus
- Experience/knowledge of finite element analysis & other CAE methods a plus
- Basic mechanical system design experience including plastic injection, die-cast, screw machine, powdered metal and metal stamping components a plus
