Summary
One of Kforce clients on the Northside of Indianapolis is seeking an IT Project Manager. The IT Project Manager plans, directs and coordinates activities of projects and serves as liaison between technical and non-technical departments. Ensures that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget.
Responsibilities
* Manages all aspects of projects: requirements definition and prioritization, development testing, documentation, implementation and support * Develops and reviews proposed project efforts to determine scope, time frame, funding requirements, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects * Communicates with offsite development and support resources to ensure successful implementation of projects * Initiates projects by setting up project kick-off meetings, establishing working procedures and communicating project plans. Manages multiple projects simultaneously by prioritizing project deadlines * Collaborates with team members and other departments to coordinate the various activities into a single, harmonized project with common goals and objectives * Serves as a departmental technical resource to others in the work group and often acts as a coach and mentor with regard to performance * Communicates with other departments to ensure project goals and deadlines are being met * Directs and coordinates activities of team members throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget * Tracks project life cycles; ensures that any problems are addressed, escalated when needed, and resolved quickly
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** * B.S. degree in a related field. Project Management certification in addition to the degree is preferred. Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education * Four to six years related Project Management experience, with at least 2 years as a project leader. * Experience working with multiple SDLC methodologies * Experience in organizing and writing reports * Able to communicate results to all levels of employees with varying degrees of technical knowledge **Possess strong interpersonal skills such as:** * The ability to build cooperative relationships by being perceptive of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do * The ability to act as an project spokesperson to members of management * Selling or influencing others-convincing others to change their minds or actions * Efficiently and effectively utilize a personal computer and related software including Microsoft Office, project management software and the Internet. Proven experience in departmental specific software * Proven track record of handling and organizing multiple projects with timely completions * Proven educational or administrative experience in solving problems for individuals or teams * Experience with analyzing and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of options and exercise critical thinking, problem solving, and judgment skills * Proven track record of project and task completion * Proven record of multi-tasking and ability to handle a high pressure environment with timeline pressures * Past history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time
