Electrical Design Engineer

A Kforce client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with some software programming experience in Tucson, Arizona (AZ). The role of this position is to design electronic circuits for machine and control products and perform some software programming. This position is responsible for leading all aspects of new product design including directing and managing reliability standards pertaining to materials and techniques used in design and production as well as directing and managing research and technical design standards for electronic parts, components, and integrated circuitry. The incumbent must be able to manage rapidly developing projects with very short concept to production time cycles.

* Design advanced power electronic systems and peripherals for machine / equipment applications * Define requirements for peripheral parts including power supplies and support circuitry * Test and debug circuits * Electrical Circuit Design activities * System / Architecture design * Electronic circuit simulation * Electronic circuit schematic design (analog and digital) * Parts selection * PCB layouts * Prototyping and modeling * Power electronic design * Electronic testing and design verification * Manufacturing support

* A BSEE degree is required * 2-8+ years of experience with circuit board design and knowledge of electronics (resistors, caps, circuits) * 1-5 years of experience in analog and/or digital design in a low cost, low to moderate volume product atmosphere * Experience preferably in the power electronic field - but we will look at other electronic fields as well * Will also consider candidates that are junior to mid-level * In an interview, the chosen candidate must be able to demonstrate an understanding of all the projects that are listed on their resume * Experience with Power Supply analysis is a plus * Experience in the use of Operational Amplifiers (Op-Amps), Power supplies, micro-controllers, digital logic, communications hardware (RS-422, USB, and SPI) and analog filters is highly desired * Software development experience in C/C++ and/or Assembly is a plus or other programming language experience * Fundamentals of analog circuit design * Multi-layer PCB design; mixed analog; and digital design is a plus * DFM / DFT principles are a plus
