Research Operating Manager

This position is part of Keysight's Central Research Laboratory Software Research Program. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and skilled Project Manager to lead a small team of researchers and developers working on projects that apply machine learning and big data analytics to the field of electronic design, simulation and test. You will often act as a technical lead and provide guidance to junior researchers and developers.

You will lead the team to establish project scope, requirements, objectives, and conduct basic business value validation. You'll set and track research milestones and deliverables and maintain and communicate the project schedule and status to stakeholders. You'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse and distributed set of high caliber professionals as you reach out to internal partners to understand their long term technology needs and requirements and describe and demonstrate your team's research. In the process you will build and maintain strong and productive relationships between your team and internal partners and external customers/collaborators.

**Required Qualifications:** * Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or other relevant field with an emphasis on analytics, machine learning and/or artificial intelligence * Experience in designing or adapting statistical analytics and machine learning for scalable high performance computing * Proficiency developing in one or more languages such as C#, C++, Python or Java * Track record of innovation and research contribution as shown by peer-reviewed journal publications * Self starting, requiring minimal supervision with strong problem solving skills * Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills * Experience developing productive relationships * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills * 3+ years of software research project management experience * Ability to manage to deadlines multiple projects simultaneously. **Desired Qualifications:** * Background in electronics and electronic test equipment * Hands-on experience with machine learning technologies. Examples include IBM Watson, Stanford’s DeepDive or Google Prediction. * Hands-on experience in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, NoSQL databases, etc. * Bachelors or Master Degree or University Degree or equivalent plus directly relevant experience as a manager, supervisor and/or individual contributor providing technical leadership * Requires proven skills in leading/managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics.
