Summary
Our client is looking for a senior, experienced, and hands-on Regional Director (“RD”) to manage the Company’s activities in the New York, Connecticut, and Boston markets. The RD will be responsible for the implementation and execution of regional development transactions, including coordination and communication with venture partners and will: manage the Company’s efforts to identify, process, and close new development transactions; oversee the construction of active projects; and play an active role in the management and disposition of completed developments. The RD will report to the CEO and have direct oversight of two Development Directors, the Construction Director and the Senior Vice President of Property Management. The ultimate objective of the efforts of the RD, as with all the activities overseen by CEO, is to create profitability for the Company and shareholders.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for managing construction, development, and property management functions within the region; * Oversee regional development activities, including land acquisition, project designs, and entitlements; * Participate in origination of new business, including new investor relationships, either in active collaboration with the CEO or independently; * Collaborate with the CEO in the deal-making process from initial project conception through development and construction to asset management and sale; * Oversee the Company’s in-house, self-performing construction function; * Oversee, coordinate, and manage project design and approvals; financing; construction, leasing and operation, communications with investors, and ultimate sale for each project; * Represent Company at appropriate industry functions and conferences. * Position requires extensive/frequent travel to regional project sites, and may include travel to other regions. **Discretion and Independent Judgment:** * Regularly exercises independent judgment and decision-making to resolve day-to-day operational issues. * Provides significant input into the short-term and long-term regional business strategy. * Analyzes and recommends solutions to overcome project hurdles and setbacks.
Ideal Candidate
**Education Requirements:** * Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Masters of Real Estate preferred. **Experience / Knowledge / Skills Requirements:** * Significant experience in real-estate development, including networking, deal structuring and negotiation. * Senior management experience overseeing one or more development offices with multiple direct reports. * Excellent project management skills and a proven track record of working effectively with land owners; institutional investors; internal resources, and third-party consultants. * Strong knowledge of the applicable regional market is essential. * Excellent oral and written communication skills and formal presentation skills.
