About JW Player

Jeroen "JW" Wijering was a student in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, in 2005 when he took up programming. One of his first late-night creations was a small piece of open-source software that enables images and sound to play on the Internet. Jeroen was still in college when his product became the basis for YouTube, which relied on JW Player until it was acquired by Google.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain online resources and content for developers who use JW Player, JW Platform, JW Player mobile SDKs for Android and iOS, and more. Content will be sourced from our Product teams and include the developer web portal, API documentation, tutorials/code examples, demo apps, blog posts and experiments.
  • Regularly curate documents, layouts, and organization according to developer feedback.
  • Be the primary point of contact at the company for the developer community through direct channels as well as social media.
  • Provide crucial developer feedback and feature requests to our Product Managers.
  • Work with our Support, Engineering and Sales teams to advise developers in creating custom applications of JW products and services.
  • Organize periodic online and in-person JW Developer events.
  • Identify and bring new developers to the community.
Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a skilled, energetic person to launch and enrich our JW Developer Community. As our community Manager, you will provide developers with the tools and educational materials they need to use our player, platform and mobile SDKs to create innovative video, advertising and data analytics applications.

Our ideal candidate is a fast learner with a diverse set of technical skills, but also someone who is passionate about empowering people to build amazing things with JW Player!

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of developer relations experience
  • Experience writing developer knowledge base articles, tutorials, blog posts, API documentation, style guides
  • Ability to write in a clear but conversational style
  • Experience building and managing community web sites or portals
  • Excellent interpersonal and online communication skills
  • Passionate about learning and explaining new technologies
  • Effective project, event and time management skills
  • BA or BS degree

Bonus points

  • Experience with video encoding, content management platforms, and/or streaming protocols is a plus
  • Experience in a customer or product support role
  • Experience managing GitHub projects
  • Active code contributions to open-source projects
  • Started or administered a developer Meetup
