Regional Underwriting Manager

Recognized and profitable Property and Casualty Insurance company is seeking a Regional Underwriting Manager for their Midwestern operation in the St. Louis area. Candidates will be responsible for all aspects of the underwriting department including management of staff, strategic planning, and budget. You will manage a staff of underwriting unit managers in multiple offices directing commercial underwriters who write a multiline, middle market commercial book, as well as provide direction to achieve business plan goals.

• Establish policies and procedures
• Evaluation of metrics and analytics regarding each line of business
• Assist with the development of new programs
• Mentor and lead underwriting staff to achieve departmental goals
• Manage workflows for efficiencies

• A minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial underwriting and management in a carrier setting
• Proven relationship management, leadership and coaching skills
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• 4 year college degree is required
• Experience with small, middle market and large account risks is highly preferred
• Management of managers is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
