SaaS Operations Engineer

Jive Software's Hosting team is seeking a highly motivated Operations Engineer with the perfect mix of technical know-how and operations experience. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Java web application management and 24x7 Linux operations experience. This position represents an exciting opportunity to be a part of Jive's expansion of its Hosting team and Jive's overall growth.

* Install and maintain Java-based web applications and their supporting software stacks. * Monitor hosting systems and respond to alerts through troubleshooting, triage, and escalation. * Document hosting systems, installations, and incident reports and resolution. * Perform system and application administration. * Participate in rotating on-call coverage for 24x7 operation support.

**Basic Qualifications:** * Minimum 3 years experience managing and troubleshooting Internet-facing web applications * Minimum 3 years experience managing and troubleshooting Linux environments, including common protocols/standards and servers (RedHat Enterprise Linux, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, Apache httpd). * Experience working in a high-availability production environments, providing 24x7 service. * Experience with various monitoring tools (i.e. Nagios). * Experience with virtualization (i.e. VMware) * Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience with scripting languages (i.e. Perl, Python). * Experience with configuration management (i.e. Puppet) * Experience managing and troubleshooting SQL database servers (i.e. PostgreSQL, MySQL). **Cultural Attributes:** * **Communicator:** You possess strong communication skills and enjoy working with customers. * **Team-Oriented:** You are capable of embracing the ideas of others (even if they conflict with your own) for the sake of the company and client. * **Driven:** You are a driven team player, collaborator, and relationship builder whose infectious can-do attitude inspires others and encourages great performance in a fast-moving environment. * **Entrepreneurial:** You thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and you’re excited by the chance to play a large role. * **Passionate:** You must be passionate about online collaboration and ensuring our clients are successful; we love seeing hunger and ambition. * **Self-motivated:** You can work with a minimum of supervision and be capable of strategically prioritizing multiple tasks in a proactive manner.
