Successfully participates in an apprentice electrician program to learn how to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical systems, components, equipment and facilities in a manufacturing environment, accumulating enough apprentice hours and experience to qualify for the Journeyman’s licensing test.
Major Duties
Laying out for the installation of wiring, apparatus and equipment.
- Maintaining and repairing electrical wiring.
- Wiring and maintaining Process Control Circuits (PLC’s).
- Prepares daily activity reports.
- Maintains list of parts and equipment used in order to replenish inventory.
- Observes and promotes all plant safety rules, operating procedures, operating standards, and plant conduct policies. This includes the use of personal protective equipment.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Cooperates with shift supervisors to repair or work on equipment.
- Contributes to plant cost reduction effort.
- Conducts housekeeping tasks to maintain a neat and orderly production area.
- Maintains effective communications with others.
- Understands and practices the concept of teamwork each day by working cooperatively and productively with others in order to complete tasks.
General Responsibilities:

- Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.

- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation, and the community. Maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Graduate of a two year electrical program with a minimum of 6 months of on the job experience or significant electrical experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Registered Apprentice or willingness to become registered with the State of Minnesota.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Understands and troubleshoots all basic Programmable Logic Controller programs (PLC).
- Understanding of Motor Control Circuits and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
- Experience in a manufacturing facility

- Typical production facility environment.
- Walking, standing on concrete floors 90% of time.
- Bending, twisting associated with working on production machinery.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends, shutdowns, holidays and when called in.
