Summary
This is a great time to become a PLC Programmer that is responsible for using their experience to improve or develop controls systems for manufacturing or material handling lines within the flat sheet building products industry. The improvements are generally to improve process sequencing through programming,hardware changes and/or Capital Improvements. The ideal candidate will be an individual contributor to the team with 3-10 years’ experience inside a continuous manufacturing environment with PLCs, Instrumentation, Drives, and related equipment. Responsibilities
* Safety comes first for yourself and others for all activities * Making or managing control/electrical system changes as requested by Safety, production, R&D, Environmental, or other departments and engineers, for process modifications, improvements, production trials, and etc., may include programming and/or hardware changes * PLC Programming for line sequence or troubleshooting * Commission or tune VFD’s, Servos, and/or Process Loops * Historian and SQL server work for data collection, monitoring, and reporting * Managing and/or supporting capital and plant projects for new or existing equipment including getting bids, hiring and managing contractor personnel and engineering firms, quoting, selecting, and purchasing electrical and process equipment and controls, programing for new systems, equipment commissioning and start up, projects may include some travel for new equipment purchases and acceptance testing, seeing equipment in other JH plants, etc. * Participate and contribute to problem solving efforts related to both new and existing control systems.
Ideal Candidate
**Typical skills include design, configuration, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the following:** * Systematic and effective Troubleshooting Ability * PLCs with local and remote I/O, Allen Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC500, PLC5), Siemens (Simatic S7, ET) * Safety systems for plant equipment (Includes Safety-Rated Relays, PLCs, Sensors, Switches, etc) * Control communication networks including Devicenet, Controlnet, and Ethernet/IP * AB and Siemens AC and DC drives, also some Square D and others * Motor control systems Including low voltage and medium voltage starters and soft starters * Ancillary equipment including lighting, air compressors, boilers, ovens, and others * Servo drives, Allen Bradley Kinetix, Siemens Master, and Siemens Sinamics platforms. * HMIs, including Wonderware Intouch and Historian, Allen Bradley Panelview, and other standalone HMIs * Plant power distribution systems, Square D switch gear, transformers, and relays * Process control systems, including a wide variety of instrumentation and control valves * Pneumatic and Hydraulic control systems * Microsoft servers and SQL a plus * Scripting languages a plus (VB, Java, C, etc) **Education/Experience:** **Required:** * Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics (preferred) or equivalent combination of experience and education. * 3 or more years’ experience in a continuous operating (24/7) manufacturing environment. * Significant experience with PLC’s, Wonderware, VFDs, Servos, ControlNet, and DeviceNet * This role will entail significant travel (50-70%).
