Summary
As our Enterprise Data Architect, you will be a part of an agile IT group overseeing James Hardie’s enterprise software and information assets. You will work with IT and business to drive innovation based on enterprise architecture principles that support the continued growth and success of James Hardie with a robust and cohesive architecture. You will demonstrate both business acumen and technological insight through your activities in data analysis, logical & physical data modeling, Metadata review and consultation. You will provide thought leadership and mentorship while evangelizing data architecture methodologies and best practices across the organization. You will be expected to continually strive to improve our information systems through pragmatic recommendations of new paradigms and adoption of technologies that enable data discovery, scalable infrastructure and real-time analytics. Integral to these responsibilities will be an ability to balance and coordinate tactical hands-on development against strategic initiatives. In this role you will also need to lead James Hardie’s Enterprise Data Management (EDM) strategy consisting of data quality, data enrichment, data governance and data democratization. You will be constantly challenged with complex and ambiguous business requirements while elevating our data architecture to the next level.
Responsibilities
* Understand, document and maintain metadata for James Hardie’s data assets * Create and guide development of data flows and/or discovery to integrate data silos across the ecosystem * Contribute to develop and foster an EDM initiative * Help evangelize the enterprise data model * Develop and implement data standards and conventions * Provide data architecture development to individual business units * Promote data architecture best practices across the organization * Lead team of highly skilled SAP BI members
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years of SAP BI/BW experience * 7+ years of data modeling and database development experience * 5+ years in architecture or high-level design role * 3+ years in a leadership or consultant role * Bachelor's degree in computer/data science or equivalent work experience * Mastery of Data Modeling/CASE tools * Superb verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills * Superb attention to quality and detail * Strong project management and organizational skills * Strong problem solving and analytical skills * Experience with Oracle (ideally 11g or higher) and/or other RDBMS Databases * Expert Skills in using SQL * Ability to develop and test Programing Logic (e.g. PL/SQL, Java, and Scripting) * Hands on experience with standing up databases technologies * Experience with ETL technology * Ability to independently research and solve complex technical challenges * Ability to translate business needs into technical recommendations **Preferred:** * Knowledge of database administration and management * Knowledge of database and SQL performance tuning * Experience with web analytics, CRM, geospatial and/or social data * Strong interest to understand new technologies, frameworks, paradigms * Strong interest to understand e-commerce business * Experience working with SAP/Salesforce.com data
