Summary
Jackson Hewitt is seeking a dynamic Senior Network Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of WAN and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This person will oversee the design, build out and installation of LAN/WAN infrastructure deployments as well as provide support for existing Data Center core routing and switching infrastructure. Conducts network wide audits for compliance with established standards and best practice configuration guidelines. This individual ensures that LAN/WAN infrastructure and related procedures adhere to organizational goals in support of staff, team members and customers.
Responsibilities
* Ensures LAN/WAN integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions; manage the documentation and administrate needs of a LAN/WAN infrastructure * Work with team members, providers and customers to design, implement and support new and existing infrastructure solutions. * Stay current on industry trends and new technologies that may increase efficiency or decrease costs associated with installed systems and future technology initiatives * Coordinate the activities of others (internal staff, client staff, subcontractors, associates and staff from collaborating and/or competing suppliers) and manage stakeholder expectations and requirements * Ensure that the aspects of the architecture are driven by the business imperatives/client requirements of the organization and that the requirements driving the overall architecture are managed consistently and effectively * Assess network requirements and present technical recommendations that are in line with the strategic vision for the enterprise and wider best practice * Ensure that the network architecture is consistent and coherent, developed at an appropriate level of detail, and that changes are controlled so as to maintain consistency * Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. * Design and optimize network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls to maximize network and Data Center up time * Develop maintenance routines for network infrastructure * Manage security processes for network elements and provide mitigation plan for security issues * Responsible for software updates and patches on various nodes on the network * Proactively analyzes vulnerabilities in the network and provide a strategy for mitigation * Coordinate and install wide area networks, coordinating carriers circuit installations, configuration and hardware deployment * Work with management to develop strategy for operational SLAs to ensure contractual obligations are met * Provide Tier II and Tier III support per request from various constituencies.Investigate and troubleshoot issues. * Provide off hours supportas needed via on call program * Other job duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* (Preferred) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related technical degree * (Preferred) CCNP * Minimum CCNA certification required * At least 7 years’ experience in computer systems and network technologies, including knowledge of Cisco IPT technologies * Experience with hardware load balancers * Experience with QoS design, development, and management * Experience with Cisco PIX/ASA, Palo Alto and router-based IOS firewalls * Experience with IDS/IPS technologies * Working knowledge of management tools (CiscoWorks, Solarwinds, Cisco Prime) * Working knowledge and deployment experience of BGP, OSPF and EIGRP in comlex WAN topologies. * Strong routing experience in an MPLS environment with a thorough understanding of QoS for IP Telephony * Hands-on experience with SNMP monitoring using Cacti/Nagios/SolarWinds * In-depth knowledge of Cisco Firewalls, NAT’ing, PAT’ing, Fault-tolerance, ACL’s, VPN tunnels, Authentication mechanisms * BlueStripe monitoring tool set * Voice gateways configurations (SRST,MGCP) * VoIP protocols (TDM, SIP, H.323)
