Summary
The Fiber Optics Senior Lab Technician will perform one or more of the analytical activities associated with the experimentation and testing in the laboratory as it relates to the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) and/or Global Operations Services (GOS) groups for Business Development customer requirements.
Responsibilities
* Work under R&D design engineer to develop optical assembly process for innovative, cost effective optical sub-assemblies (OSA) for high speed transceiver and/or transponders. * Hands-on experience on optical device alignment, optical components and device assembly, and system integration, testing and report to lead design engineer. * Expert on optical parts cleaning, inspection and assembly under the optical microscopy * Expert on epoxy bonding and epoxy bonding control, and wire bonding. * Familiar with various kind of microscopy using * Independent worker and a good team player, transfer (conducting the training operators ) the new products to production line/CM. * Collaborate with optical, electrical, packaging design engineers and process development engineers to fulfill an OSA design with consideration of all aspects. * Understand assembly, repair and test processes & procedures. * Interface and collaborate effectively with others * Understand SMT/PTH primary and rework process fundamentals * Operate standard SMT (i.e. screen printers, pick and placement, reflow, BGA rework), and PTH (i.e. spray fluxer, wave solder) equipment * Understand hardware, test equipment, software and program languages used by the group. * Operate, maintain, and calibrate equipment to specifications. * Perform laboratory experiments, collect/document test results and support projects as directed * Maintain documentation of experiment and research findings using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. * Perform cross-section, dye and pry and other analyses as directed.
Ideal Candidate
* Be familiar with new product introduction (NPI) processes and be involved in the phases of concept, prototype, development and manufacturing of the products. * Familiar with semiconductor laser and photo diode physics and device design * Be familiar with OSA assembly processes (epoxies solder, welding) as well as system alignment techniques * Self motivated, strong problem-solving capabilities and a good team player. * Good communication of English (both spoken and written). * 5+ years work experience in optical device or module development, 40G/100G optical device or module working experiences are preferred * HS Diploma and 2 years experience performing lab experiments; troubleshooting, problem solving of laboratory issues required. Associate’s degree preferred.
