Summary
J.Crew seeks a highly motivated designer to work on all aspects of jcrew.com. The designer will help the associate art director manage projects including editorial features, site enhancements, and user interface development. The designer will be responsible for maintaining design quality standards and brand positioning. The designer will partner hand in hand with other designers, associate photo director, and the associate art director on research for monthly sites’ look and feel.
Responsibilities
* Under the guidance of associate art director ensure consistent, clear communication of the J.Crew brand on jcrew.com. * Develop concepts for editorial features in partnership with J.Crew brand creative team. * Partner with copy to create editorial features and updates to jcrew.com. * Explore and present new design ideas to J.Crew brand creative team. * Propose new technology uses, interfaces and functionalities. * Be responsible for production and partner with developers to build and quality control site overhauls on jcrew.com.
Ideal Candidate
* BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job. * Junior Web Designer: 1-2 years of design experience, ideally in retail/fashion * Web Designer: 2-3 years of design experience, ideally in retail/fashion * Understanding of the brand, refined taste level * Strong formal design and typography skills * Knowledge of web technology and its opportunities and restrictions * Understanding of Information Architecture * Ability to prioritize and follow through * Ability to intuit global design trends * Meet creative review and production deadlines * Detail oriented * Proactive, excellent communication skills * Efficient in Adobe CC and Sketch. Invision a plus.
