Responsibilities
* The Senior Aviation Mechanical Engineer services provides structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to characterize the performance of aerospace components and airframe structure. * The Senior Aviation Mechanical Engineer designs and executes tests to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Ideal Candidate
* This position requires current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia. * Minimum of five years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering or Damage Tolerance. * Proficient with finite element methods, solid mechanics, solid modeling, and numerical methods. * Proficient with using MATLAB and Simulink using scripting and programming to handle and analyze large data sets. * Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to design and manufacture aerospace parts. * Proficient with design software, including AUTOCAD, Unigraphics , SolidWorks, and Pro-Engineer. * Proficient with in-situ damage characterization methods and data analysis. * Proficient with using finite element method and aero-structural life cycle analysis tools, including ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASTRAN, PATRAN, COSMOS/M, and AFGROW. * Background with linear and nonlinear modeling, including elastoplasticity, contact modeling, or fatigue modeling. * Experienced in designing aerospace mechanical subsystems (for example, landing gears). * Knowledgeable of U.S. aviation regulatory agencies certification to aircraft structural components and structure. * Skilled in the use of standard and specialized tools and the equipment of the discipline. * Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. * Proficient personal computer skills to include a strong working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office suite of products. * Ability to work in and around aircraft, include the top of wings. * Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Structural Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, Physics or Mathematics. The degree shall be from one of the six regional accreditation boards recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher **Education Accreditation:** * Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) * Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) * New England Associations of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) * North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) * Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) * Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
