Senior Accountant

(Irvine, California)The Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting will be primarily responsible for ensuring assigned responsibilities are completed accurately and on a timely basis in accordance with the monthly close calendar. Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to, the reconciliation and analysis of Debt-related balance sheet and income statement accounts, overseeing day-to-day accounting tasks in assigned areas and leading or assisting with special projects.
- Compile monthly debt activity data, analyze transactions and record monthly journal entries for multiple debt portfolios.
- Review monthly bank account reconciliations for the company’s cash disbursements and depository accounts.
- Oversee accounting for debt, cash and certain general and administrative expenses including the review of related Corporate balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
- Update policy and procedure documents (as required).
- Collaborate with Capital Markets and Financial Planning groups in the preparation and consolidation of financial data required for forecasting and business planning.
- Manage the workflow of one accountant, including training and mentoring.
- Prepare working papers and schedules for the Company’s interim and fiscal year-end audit and calendar year-end tax return.
- Lead or assist with special projects and other duties as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Five plus years of general accounting experience including experience with loan accounting and/or equivalent financial services experience.
- Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills utilizing v-lookups and pivot tables. SAP experience a plus.
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Willingness to embrace change and ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Detail oriented, highly self-motivated, positive team-player attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills. A professional manner necessary for collaborative interaction with Corporate and operating division personnel.
